Exploring Limbic Regions associated Motivation on Convergence and Mathematics Activity

چکیده
This study aims to investigate the relations between limbic regions and motivation in convergence and mathematics learning. For this purpose, the magnetic resonance images of brain of 22 right-handed high school students were collected. The partial correlated subcortical regions between volume and motivation scores were left accumbens and right Pallidum. Among these regions, left accumbens was only significant region in regressive analysis on motivation score of convergence learning. These results show that learning motivation in convergence and mathematics was related to reward system as structural aspect. This results could improve understanding about learning motivation on convergence and mathematics.

O7: Limbic System and its Disorders (Focus on Emotions Including Anxiety)
The cerebral cortex can be functionally subdivided into primary sensory-motor, unimodal association, heteromodal association, paralimbic and limbic regions. Broca was the first who described limbic lobe in 1874, as a ring of gray matter, lying between the diencephalon and more lateral neocortex on the medial surface of the hemisphers. It locates outside of the corpus callosum and consists of su...

OBJECTIVE Theories of human behavior from Plato to Freud have repeatedly emphasized links between emotion and reason, a relationship now commonly attributed to pathways connecting phylogenetically "old" and "new" brain regions. Expanding on this theory, this study examined functional interactions between specific limbic and neocortical regions accompanying normal and disease-associated shifts i...
متن کاملExploring the neural correlates of delusions of reference.
BACKGROUND Referential delusions are the most common symptom of schizophrenia and offer an opportunity to examine the neural correlates of delusions because they occur in discrete episodes that can be studied in the scanner. The cortical midline structures (CMS) and subcortical regions, including the amygdala and striatum, are linked with self-reference in healthy adults. Less is known about th...
متن کاملO7: Functional Characterization of Human GABAA Autoantibodies in the Context of Limbic Encephalitis
Limbic encephalitis is an adaptive autoimmune disease, induced by different autoantibodies, which target extracellular neuronal epitopes, such as NMDA or GABAB receptors1,2. Recently our group found another human antibody, which binds to the α1 subunit of the GABAA receptor. Since the GABAA receptor is responsible for the majority of fast inhibitory neurotransmission, we investigated chan...
متن کاملA numerical solution of mixed Volterra Fredholm integral equations of Urysohn type on non-rectangular regions using meshless methods
In this paper, we propose a new numerical method for solution of Urysohn two dimensional mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations of the second kind on a non-rectangular domain. The method approximates the solution by the discrete collocation method based on inverse multiquadric radial basis functions (RBFs) constructed on a set of disordered data. The method is a meshless method, because it ...
